As a mother, nurse, and lactation consultant, I’ve seen how profoundly the right support can shape pregnancy, birth, and the months that follow. Today’s breast milk journeys are rarely just breastfeeding. Modern families often navigate breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, and wearable pumps—making expert guidance in both infant feeding and breast pump science more valuable than ever.

Your lactation support team is one of the most meaningful investments you can make. Research consistently shows mothers identify professional breastfeeding support as one of the services they most wish they had received.

Long after the baby gear is outgrown, the confidence you gain, the challenges you overcome, and the memories you create while nourishing your baby remain. Invest in expert support that protects your breast milk journey and brings lasting peace of mind—because you and your baby deserve nothing less.

Mary Anne set me up for success when I gave birth halfway through my nursing program and had to go back to clinicals 2 weeks later.  My baby has never needed formula thanks to her.  Before I even gave birth she taught me how to nurse and developed a personalized plan to build a freezer stash and practice bottle feeding so my baby both knew how to take a bottle and had enough milk stored to get me through clinicals.  When my baby girl came, she had jaundice and the lactation consultant from the hospital didn't come for 2 days.  Because I knew what I was doing going into it, I successfully nursed my girl well enough to keep her from needing phototherapy.  When I got home, I was having trouble with a painful latch and when I reached out to Mary Anne she told me "be there in an hour".  She has continued to be incredibly responsive and committed to me and my baby girl throughout my breastfeeding journey.  If you want top notch care that is with you every step of the way, Mary Anne is your gal.

I am extremely grateful to have been able to find and work with Mary Anne!  At six months postpartum and returning to work, my milk supply hit a dramatic decline.  I was frustrated and deeply wanted to continue nursing and bottle feeding my son breastmilk without having to supplement with my freezer stash or formula.  Mary Anne was able to immediately identify errors and improvements in my nursing and pumping regime.  She prioritized a home visit in which we reviewed my flange size, different pumping parts, a revised pumping and nursing schedule, and much more!  Mary Anne is undoubtedly an expert in her field. Through her kindness, support, and wisdom, I am now pumping at a surplus when away from my son and able to exclusively breastfeed when we are together.  With Mary Anne's consult and continued check-ins, I feel confident in my breastfeeding journey and thoroughly supported!

I can't say enough good things about Mary Anne.  She was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable, and made me feel completely supported during a time that felt overwhelming.  She took time to listen to my concerns, explained everything clearly, and never made me feel rushed or judged.  Her guidance made such a difference in my breastfeeding and pumping journey and I'm so grateful for her care and encouragement.  I would highly recommend her to any new or even experienced parent!

After a full year of nursing and pumping, I was nervous about weaning and drying up my breastmilk supply. Working with The Art of Lactation made the process simple and painless (both physically and emotionally). Mary Anne came to my home and created a realistic, day-by-day weaning plan which was achievable and took all of the guesswork out of the process. Thanks to Mary Anne’s methodical and supportive approach, I never experienced pain or developed mastitis (something so many of my girl friends struggled with during weaning). What meant the most was Mary Anne’s ongoing encouragement and support. She checked in regularly throughout the process, answered my questions, and was my biggest cheerleader every step of the way. I am incredibly grateful for Mary Anne’s expertise, kindness, and dedication. I can’t recommend her highly enough to any mom looking for compassionate, knowledgeable support during their breastfeeding journey.  I couldn’t have completed my breastfeeding journey without The Art of Lactation!
