Does insurance cover lactation consults?
Yes and No.....While many insurance plans may cover certain lactation consultation services, these sessions are often limited in both duration and frequency due to contractual restrictions. Unfortunately, feeding challenges do not follow a predictable timeline, and meaningful progress often requires time, flexibility and individualized support.
At The Art of Lactation, I provide unhurried, high-touch lactation care that is not constrained by insurance-imposed time limits. My commitment is to work with you and your baby until we identify effective, sustainable solutions ~ whether for breastfeeding, pumping, or bottle feeding support.
Each consultation is designed to allow the time needed to fully assess feeding dynamics, address underlying challenges, and create a personalized care plan tailored to your goals: therefore, all consults are 2 hours in duration. In addition, I provide two weeks of follow-up support after your lactation consultation to answer questions, refine strategies, and support ongoing progress.
This elevated level of care is designed to provide both clinical expertise and continuity of support, ensuring you feel confident, supported, and equipped as you navigate feeding your baby in a way that works for your life.
Do you accept insurance?
The Art of Lactation is considered an Out-of-Network Provider. A Superbill will be placed in your MillkNotes Parent Portal within 24 hours of our appointment for submission to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Our lactation services, however, are all HSA/FSA eligible expenses!
